Back to 2018 - Chihuahua's Mining Cluster

The step onto the real world…

The mining industry? Never expected that my first job would be in a men’s of power world, but it was.

And, funny as it may, that world showed me the power of fashion and personal image.

The job I started as an intern, turned into my first real job as Linking Coordinator.

I started out designing event branding and creating content for the association. At the time, my uniform was basic jeans and sneakers.

One day, I decided to take a step back and align my appearance with my career ambitions, trading jeans and sneakers for formal attire and heels every day. Shortly after that shift, I was promoted to coordinator. Looking back, that was my real AHA! moment—my very first encounter with the direct impact that personal style and visual identity have.

The moment I went up on that corporate ladder

When the Linking Coordinator position opened up, I didn’t even apply—the team actually came to me and asked if I’d take it on, purely because of the strong presence I’d built.

In that role, I managed B2B internal events, connecting local suppliers within the association to buyers from the largest mining companies in Chihuahua, Mexico. That experience gave me the momentum and confidence I needed to jump at my next big challenge: leading the very first edition of the Cluster’s Business Encounter.

Working with an initial budget of just 100,000 Mexican pesos, we managed to generate over 1 million pesos in revenue. If you want a little insider detail on how big it got: we hosted over 500 speed-networking meetings, bringing together national suppliers with key buyers from every major mine in the country. On top of that, we welcomed official delegations from the Australian Embassy, as well as the Canadian and Peruvian Mining Clusters.

Successfully pulling that off completely shifted how I viewed event organization—and even inspired me to run a side business as an event planner for a while after that!
